Former CLC Girl Aims High

Graduate and former CLC girl Charlotte Voce has a high-flying career ahead of her – as a wingwalker with an aerobatics team performing handstands strapped to a biplane.

Charlotte left CLC in 2008 and after graduating from Newcastle University in 2011 has led an exciting career working full time as a Wingwalker for Breitling AeroSuperBatics Team.  During the season the team performs at around 90 air shows across England and around Europe.  In Charlotte’s first two weeks on the job she performed in France and Switzerland.

During the displays the team climb around the aircraft starting in the cockpit and climb up into the rig where they strap themselves in.  Displays usually last for about 20 minutes where different positions, including handstands, are held while the aeroplanes perform loops, rolls, stall turns and inverted runs.

Wingwalkers experience wind speeds of up to 160mph and ‘g’ forces of up to 4g.  Charlotte’s team is sponsored by Breitling and is the world’s only formation wingwalking team.

“I am having such a fantastic time, every day is new and exciting and performing in displays is such a thrill, it’s amazing to see the crowds and the view from the sky!  Although it is difficult to describe what it is like I guess you could say it is similar to an extreme roller coaster!”

Charlotte and her team are taking their show to Guernsey, Jersey, Northern Ireland, Belgium and Barcelona this season
