St. Margaret’s first opened in 1913 and resided in two locations before moving to its present site with purpose-built premises in 1925. The girls looked forward to the opening of the new house and were thrilled with the bright, airy and modern surroundings, "One of our great delights is the electric light" they recorded in the College magazine", there was also a sick wing which looked "so inviting that it is almost a temptation to be ill". St. Margaret’s has also always been popular for its direct access to Field.
At St Mag’s we aim to ensure that every girl is confident and secure in her surroundings and relationships, so that academic work can flourish whilst her personality develops.
Cheerful, enthusiastic and considerate
My name is Mrs Jones and I joined St. Margaret’s as Housemistress in September 2008. I recently got married in Torquay and have moved with my husband from The Abbey and Reading Schools in Berkshire. Prior to this I was Assistant Housemistress at Framlingham College in Suffolk. I am an enthusiastic and energetic person who has a very positive outlook on everything!
