Junior Boarding Houses

St. Austin's

Exterior of building

St. Austin's is one of College's oldest boarding houses and moved to its present location in 1933 with new, purpose-built buildings. "The domestic arrangements are of the most modern," remarked the then Principal, Miss Sparks. Still kept up-to-date, St. Austin's was refurbished in 2005 with the creation of a new shower room. Mrs Rawlinson is the 18th Housemistress since 1903.

Three words to describe St. Austin’s?

Friendly, fun loving, energetic, unique, fun, happy, caring, sisterly, warm, optimistic.

(Mrs Rawlinson says the girls of St. Austin’s are good with words but not so good at counting! She would pick happy, friendly and warm.)

  • Housemistress

HousemistressMy name is Mrs Rawlinson and I have been Housemistress of St. Austin's since September 2004. Before that I had been a part-time matron in St. Helen's for several years, combining the job of being a matron with that of being a full-time mother. I live in the House with my daughter Georgia and my husband and two sons, who are both now at University, often visit me. Before I started work at CLC I had also worked in prep schools, and in fact grew up in one.
