Junior Boarding Houses

Sidney Lodge

exterior of building

Sidney Lodge opened to its first six girls in May 1892 and moved to its present home in 1914. It stands on the site of an earlier house belonging to Lord Fauconberg where George III stayed during his visit to Cheltenham in 1788. The loyal Sidney Lodge girls were not overjoyed at the move. "Our only consolation" one of them wrote, "is that the house is taking its name with it". We’re pleased to report that Sidney Lodge girls are now very happy with their surroundings, and just as loyal!

  • What is Sidney Lodge like?

Sidney Lodge is a busy but friendly house as we are in the middle of all the other houses and lots of girls walk past our door on the way to College and the Sports Centre. We love to have visitors for lunch, tea or to play in the garden.

Housemistress

Hello, I am Miss Maz Ralph. I have been at Sidney Lodge since January 2002 and live here with my daughter Chloe. I was a French and Spanish teacher before becoming a housemistress and have worked in business too. I love working with young people and looking after them and this beautiful old Victorian building.

Miss Ralph has a lovely and very friendly dog, Sassie.
