Glenlee moved to its current home in 1901 after originally occupying the building which is now the Kandinsky Hotel. Much excitement was caused during the building of the present Glenlee as the skeleton of an Ichthyosaurus dinosaur was discovered when laying the building’s foundations, it was proudly carried off to the College museum. Miss Beale described the new boarding house as "home-like, not barrack-like", today's Glenlee is just as homely.
Our aim is to include and value everyone as an individual and treat each other with mutual respect. We expect good manners and courteous behaviour at all times and in general we have a lot of fun! Glenlee is a very happy house. It is right next to the sports centre and therefore lots of girls enjoy sport. Not everyone likes sport however and Glenlee always has girls who are good at lots of other things – some are very sporty, others are good at music, drama or art. This makes the house very balanced and we enjoy having such a wide range of activities which our girls are good at.
I moved to Cheltenham from Tiverton, Devon with my husband James (who teaches locally) and our two daughters, Freya and Ruby.
I have been teaching for 12 years and my specialism is French. I was educated at Sherborne School For Girls in Dorset, where I was a boarder. I graduated from Leeds University with a degree in French with Theology. I then did a PGCE/Maitrise course in Homerton and in Paris before starting my teaching career at Poole Grammar School.
I am a qualified aerobics instructor and my other hobbies include swimming, camping, foreign travel and reading.
I'm looking forward to maintaining the happy and friendly atmosphere in Glenlee.
