An annual weekend expedition to Snowdonia takes place in the summer term. This trip is for LC2 girls and includes walking in the beautiful rugged North Wales mountains, staying in a Youth Hostel and visiting places of historical and cultural interest.
Towards the end of the summer term all girls in LC3 take part in a three day Outdoor Pursuit Camp. Girls camp and cook for themselves and take part in a number of pursuits such as mountain biking, caving and canoeing, often declaring it to be "the best week of the whole year at Coll!".
Overseas trips are a regular feature of College life and, for example, skiing trips are offered in every other year to resorts in Canada and the French Alps. In addition to the adventures abroad had by many of our sports teams, there is always an expedition on the horizon to various far flung corners of the earth! Here is just a sample of what occurs...
The Ecuador expedition in July 2009 included an an adventurous trekking phase together with working in the community.
The Borneo expedition in July 2007 included a week spent in two orphanages, working on various projects and a jungle trek.
In 2005 we were off to North East Tanzania, an area called the East Usambaras. We aim to support the work of Tukae, a charity set up in 2000 to provide health care, educational provision and to initiate small-scale industries in this remote area of a developing country.
In July and August 2003, a group of 30 Sixth Formers and accompanying staff experienced a live-changing trip to Peru, South America. Three and a half weeks were spent in the ancient Inca capital of Cuzco, teaching and working in an orphanage. In addition, a 5 day trek up Macchu Picchu was memorable for its stunning views.
